10 Superstitions, Traditions, and/or Personality Quirks

I have no idea why I started doing some of the things that are on this list - maybe things that people told me when I was little that I just never stopped doing. Some are superstitions, some are just little quirky things I do…
- I always cross my fingers when passing by a cemetary
- When I order fries with my meal at a restaurant, I line up several fries in a queue line to cool off before I eat them
- Out family tradition is going to midnight mass on Christmas eve and opening our presents afterwards
- Every winter, I push my sister into the snow in front of our house. Several years ago, I hadn’t realized that my father planted a tree in front of the house and that the brick border was hidden under the snow. With that said, my sister still feels pain in her ribs whenever the weather turns bad. I’m such a mean sister.
- I always set my alarm 30 minutes before I have to wake up, because I’ll always snooze the alarm - for an hour. Which makes half an hour late for everything
- Whenever I travel for work, I wear a locket with a picture of my son Ben in it
- All of my comic books have to be bagged and boarded
- I cannot have long fingernails. The clackety clack sound they make on my keyboard drives me crazy
- I always wear new clothes on New Year’s Eve
- I only use Q-Tips, any other kind of cotton swab isn’t good enough for me.

I did a 10 on Tuesday this week…it’s been a while, and I loved your choice of subjects for us this week, and wanted to make sure I remembered to do it…….mine’s shared too.
Oh………and your #8? I SO AGREE with that. And not only the noise they make, long nails look ‘witchy’ to me. rofl

Yano, this prompt was especially fun. And, I agree with you and Hootin’ Anni on #8. I learned when getting my Food Handlers Permit that those in the food industry aren’t allowed to have the long nails, or else have to wear plastic gloves all the time. There’s a good reason for that that carries over into everyday life. Hmmm . . . Maybe I sense a blog post coming . . . Anyhoo, here’s my 10 on Tuesday:

I enjoyed your list … agree fully with you about ‘long fingernails’ … but am completely opposite when it comes to alarm clocks ;–)

1. If I break a mirror I do believe it would mean 7 years of bad luck. So I refuse to clean up the mess or touch the pieces of glass for 7 hours. I try to not even look at it. Thankfully I haven’t broken any mirrors.
2. I always put my shoes in double knots. It’s just something I’ve always done.
3. I’m constantly forgetting people’s birthdays, and anniversaries. All the important dates that girls are supposed to remember and make a big fuss over, I forget. So most of my cards are belated. (sorry, friends and fam)
4. I’m a clock watcher.
5. I will flip through ALL the tv channels to see whats on before deciding what to watch.
6. When I’m on hold on the phone, I doodle on paper. Sometimes I’ll set the phone down and whoever put me on hold will hang up when they realize I’m not listening. Then I have to start the whole process over again.
7. I habitually check my email. Almost ever hour I check to see if some one has sent me anything. Mostly it ends up being just spam. Even then I open some of the spammy letters just to read how they are trying to get info from me. I’ll forward the really bad ones to companies mentioned in the letter.
8. I read te funnies of the newspaper before anything else.
9. I’m a slow shopper, I like to go up and down all the aisles.
10. I use post-its for everything! I love post-its. Little love notes, or important reminders. Everything gets a post-it!
