I admit it, as much as I hate those horrible crushes of paparazzi that follow celebrities, I can’t help but be addicted to gossip websites and the e! channel.  However, there are some celebrities that are on my “yuck” list (which, doesn’t really have any REAL celebrities on it):

1. Heidi Spencer and Spencer Pratt - why are these two still around?  Every picture you see of them has been set up by them and totally looks fake.  I want them to fade away into obscurity ASAP.
2. Denise Richards - hers is the only show on television that I make an effort to avoid.  for some reason i can’t stand her!
3. Perez Hilton - Yes, I go to his site, but I’ve seen it devolve into something that is not as fun as it used to be.  He’s become such a big celebrity in his own mind that he’s starting to make fun of people who are gaining weight - forgetting the weight that he was at not even a year ago.  It’s a little annoying
4.  Ann Coulture - She seems like a pretty intelligent woman, which makes me wonder why she says the crazy things she does
5. Tara Reid - She had a promising future, but fell into that pit of booze, partying and botched plastic surgery that young Hollywood starlets seem to do
6. Andy Dick - the guy is TOTALLY obnoxious

Hmm…that’s all I can think of for now.  This topic was harder than I thought it would be!

With the upcoming presidential election looming, we’re seeing a lot of coverage of candidates and a lot of promises being thrown about. Anything that bothers you about the election, or in politics in general? Here’s my list:

1) Concentrating so much on the war. Yes, it’s a big issue that we’re in this war and we do need a plan to get out of it, but I think there are many more issues that we need to concentrate on, like education, the environment and health care

2) Political ads - on my telephone. Don’t call me and ask me for my vote, it will make me less likely to vote for you

3) Why is gay marriage hot topic? I don’t think our government has any place in forbidding it. Anyway, when you think about it, it’s good for the economy. Think of how much a gay wedding would cost! *wink*

4) Flip flopping - I hate the term. It’s so casually thrown around without the consideration of what the situation was when the first decision was made. Someone could have voted for the war when they were misled into thinking there was evidence. Now that we know the truth, it’s a different story.

5) Sometimes I feel like our government cares more about defending other countries than taking care of its own people. If we were to get attacked by another country, it’s over. If another Hurricane Katrina were to happen, we wouldn’t have enough military to take care of it.

6) Red or Blue? I know that I could be Independent, but the fact that it’s such a big deal if the Democrats or the Republicans make up the majority bothers me. These politicians have been elected to speak for their people, not to follow along the voting lines of the party. It’s because of this that America’s youth doesn’t believe that their vote counts or their voices will be heard. Another think is this “us vs. them” mentality, the impression that Republicans are against Democrats and vice versa. Aren’t we all living in the same country?

7) Foreign Relations - I remember when the US was admired and loved by other countries. Now we’re loathed and hated. How did that turn about so quickly?

8) Government spending - a 3.1 trillion budget has been proposed, intended to “keep America safe” which really means that the money is going towards military spending for the war. With such a huge budget, it’s a shame that many “unecessary” programs, like encouraging art and music in schools and providing assistance for low-income students for field trips are on the chopping block to be eliminated

9) Lies! Lies! Lies! I’m sure I don’t have to come up with examples of politicians lying.

10) The political power of some lobbyists. Tobacco groups keeping cigarette taxes low, infant formula groups censoring public awareness ads of the benefits of breastfeeding, etc.
