*yawn*

Today’s a slacker day…well, there’s some cleaning to be done, but I’ve been pretty much sitting around all day (after finishing up my expenses). That is, when I’m not chasing Ben around.

Just wanted to share a pic that I took the other day at the zoo…the tiger was in a pretty lazy mood! (click to enlarge)

Pixar, You Are Magical

I’m trying to finish up this quarter’s expenses to submit for work (Mommy’s gotta get her money!), but Dave’s working this afternoon, so I’ve got Ben. He’s been pretty active this morning, and in hopes of trying to calm him down and get some work done, I put in “Toy Story”. Claudine had bought us a whole bunch of Disney movies last month, and this is the first time I’ve cracked into them.

As soon as the opening credits started, my kid has been hypnotized. He’s smiling and laughing and bobbing his head whenever there’s music. He loves it!

So thanks to you guys at Pixar and Disney, for giving me 84 minutes of free time!

Adventures of My Wolf Boy

I took a break yesterday night from working to practice my photoshop skills. I found a couple cool actions that made photos look like comic books. The end result wasn’t exactly to my liking, but I tweaked them until I came up with something I liked a lot. I had several pictures of Ben that I had wanted to make into a collage, but I was inspired to make it a little comic strip.

I had been doing some retail therapy and found the cutest wolf hat for Ben. Even though it was for an 18 month old child, it seems that the wolf hat is too small for my big headed child. But he looks so damn cute in it! At first, he was OK with the hate, but then realized that it was making his head hot (or maybe felt weird on his head or messing up his hair) and he wanted it OFF. Now, whenever I put it on, he immediate takes it off and throws it far away.

Anyway, here’s my little strip (click for a bigger view):

Sleepless Long Nights

Don’t you hate it when a big trend comes up, or a song gets really popular and you’ve liked it way before it was “cool”? You want to tell people, “hey, I liked that WAY before it was popular” but you really can’t prove it…

Anyway, that “new”catchy iPod nano song, “1 2 3 4″ by Feist has been a video I’ve been enjoying for a while now in my late night/early morning work hours. First, it was a really catchy tune. Second, the video is disco-riffect. I love the video - the rainbow colors, the cheesy line dancing, the simplicity of it…

So, here’s the full video. It’s one of Ben’s favorite commercials - he always stops whatever he’s doing to watch it.

An Hour Just Isn’t Long Enough

Anyone catch yesterday’s Heroes premiere?

I realized yesterday that I totally love the show, and that I never want it to end. I found myself checking my watch often, not because I was waiting for 9pm to roll around, as a way to torture myself and think, “Dammit! There’s only 15 minutes left!”

—SPOILERS—

There were a lot of surprises, and the last 5-10 minutes left me thinking “Whaaaa-?!?!” several times. Things that left me wondering were…

- WTF is up with that craziness that Nathan saw in the mirror? Is that what he REALLY looks like now? You’d think so, since he went up into the atmosphere with Peter before he blew up - Nathan doesn’t have the healing power so it’s understandable that his face would be all fucked up like that.

- Peter in a box? …and looking 10 times hotter than last season? Also, it looks like he’s got a new power…

- Kensei is a white English guy?!?

- What’s up with the two Mexicans? What does she do? Why does she kill people? Why is are her brother’s eyebrows so bushy?

- Love the whole “My Two Dads” thing going on with Matt, Mohinder and Molly, but do they actually allow those arrangements to happen?

Next week can’t come soon enough!

Monday’s a B1tch

I’ve been wanting to start blogging regularly again…so here’s a weekly meme to brush off the blogging rust:

Monday’s a B1tch

1.Which category of Trivial Pursuit would you say you’re most knowledgeable in?
Science. I always loved landing on green and always tried calculating my moves so that I could get to the science category.

2.Did you go to your High School Prom? What was it like?
Yes, I did. It was fun. There were a lot of snobby popular girls nominated for Prom Queen, but the perfect person won - a girl who was popular, kind hearted and gorgeous. I had designed my dress, and let me tell you, in hindsight it was awful - think metallic black and magenta ruffles. Ick!

3.If you were one of the five senses which would you be?
Sight. I’m a visual person. I understand things better by seeing them, and I teach better using visual diagrams.

4.Have you ever gone downhill skiing?
Yes, though I prefer snowboarding more. I feel like I have more control and I can start and stop whenever I want to. It’s a lot more fun, too!

5.What’s your favourite kind of nut?
It’s a toss up between the cashew and the macadamia nut. Cover up a macadamia nut in chocolate or coffee and it’s delicious. Put some salt on a cashew, and it’s yum city!

Aquaman and Wife

It was a great wedding, even though we could only attend the reception. More later once I process the pictures…gotta work and watch Da Bears!

The Slider

Surprisingly, the first time I took Ben to a playground was last weekend. We go to the zoo, Chuck-e-Cheese and aquariums all the time, but I had never taken him to just a regular playground. He goes with his grandfather all the time, but I was still surprised when I saw him walk right up to one of the play structures, climb up the stairs, and go down the big slide (I had to catch him, since he’s too short to reach the ground at the end of the slide). He was by far the littlest kid on the playground, but he held his own and most of the kids were patient and waited for him to climb up the stairs or gently made their way around him (except for that one punk that stepped on Ben’s fingers). Anyway, here’s some pics:

He looks so big here! He’s so brave!

I admit, I was so busy taking this picture I forgot to catch him and he fell. Like 6 inches onto the soft ground. Someone call DCFS!

Playing with sand

For some reason he loves to clean the playground. He found a twig and handed it to me. On the stairs for the slide, he made sure to hand me any wood chips that were on the steps. Weirdo.

What a cutie pie!

I miss my little daredevil! I’m going home tomorrow!

Greetings from Somewhere, GA!

Helllllloooooo!

I’m currently in a mystery town in Georgia. I had to fly to Charlotte, NC to Tallahassee, FL, then drive about an hour to get here. Left home at around 11:30am, and got to my hotel at around 8:30pm local time. Whew!

I’m curious if there’s a big gambling problem in Tallahassee - I passed by several billboards that read “1-800-ADMIT-IT”, a hotline for gambling addicts.

Got lost along the way to my hotel, asked the man at the gas station for the street that I had missed and he had no idea what I was talking about. I started to get worried, but then he asked the other guy who worked there who was like, “Oh, that street is just one block over…” Ironically, I was only several blocks away from my hotel.

Have I mentioned that I’m a hotel snob? I don’t even know if this place can even be called a hotel. All the other “nice” hotels were booked (Somewhere, GA must be pretty popular!) so I had to settle for this one. I’m surviving. The wi-fi for the hotel doesn’t reach my room so I’m in the hotel breakfast area typing this.

My hotel is next to a Restaurant. Seriously, that’s the name of the place. Restaurant. It’s like those black and white generic cans of corn you see in the supermarket. The ones that say “Corn”, and that’s it. Just “Restaurant”.

I was booked a handicap room. It’s got a lot of bars and stuff in the bathroom. Pretty interesting. Too bad I can’t use the handicap spot that’s right in front of the room!

I’m tired! Ben woke up at 4am this morning and just would not go back to sleep. I was sitting there, working on my laptop at 6 in the morning watching him play around with his cars and draw in his art pad. I sat him down on the couch to watch the Mickey Mouse Club, and when I looked up at around 8:30am, the poor thing was passed out. Didn’t wake up again until around 11am. I called my in-laws who are watching him while I’m gone - looks like he fell asleep at 6pm. I have to laugh inside because I KNOW he’s going to be wide awake in the middle of the night. I told my mother in law to catch her Z’s now because she’s not getting them in the morning!

Anyway….tomorrow should be interesting.

Kuyabar Gets Hitched!

A couple weeks ago we went to Mike and Sue’s wedding. It’s kinda crazy, I’ve known Mike for half of my life. It was really great to be there on his big day, and to know that he’s found his life partner. I’ve seen him with a myriad of ex-girlfriends, from the crazy ones to the ones that were nice, but just not right. His wife, Sue, is wonderful, and knowing that her friends and family are genuinely good people makes it even better.

So here’s some pics, if you’d like to see the whole set, go here.
