Benjamin Update
It’s been almost a week since I’ve talked about my little poopoo pants. I know you guys are getting the shakes from the withdrawal. So here’s the latest on my little man. Not Dave. Benjamin.
- He’s laughing now! Well, it’s not an outloud laugh, but his mouth opens up in a big smile as if he’s laughing. He’s definitely at the point where it’s obvious that he’s smiling in reaction to the things we do or the faces we make.
- He’s learned to yell when he’s angry. He’s not crying, it’s more like yelling for attention. Usually he’ll yell if I’ve left him alone on the bed or in the crib. What’s funny is that when I come back to give him some attention, I’ll yell right back at him, which will make him smile. Then we have this little yelling match where he yells and I yell and he laughs.
- He’s starting to get a schedule. He’ll usually “wake up” between 7 and 9am and he’ll be awake for 3-5 hours. He’ll then have an afternoon nap where he’ll wake up again at around 4 or 5pm in time for Dave to hang out with him. After that it gets random. Sometimes he’ll take another nap before being put down for the night or sometimes he’ll just stay up until around 9pm and then go to sleep. He then wakes up about two to three times a night, or if I’m lucky, once. However he hasn’t had a long stretch of sleep since Claudine’s wedding - that really messed up his whole schedule!
- People think my kid is damn cute. Everyone at the wedding said so! ![]()
- Although he’s still only 2 1/2 months old, he’s been big enough to wear 3 month old clothing since he was 2 months. I’ve got a little porker on my hands! I’m not worried though…I love squeezing those chubby little thighs!
- Ben LOVES to be in a standing position. If he’s crying and we have him stand on his legs (with support of course) he’ll quiet down (most of the time, anyway). He’s always had strong legs and good neck control, so I don’t mind having him in this position, though after a couple minutes my arms hurt!
- I’ve changed the batteries in his papasan - the swing that he loves to be in, and that I love having him in because it entertains him while I do chores and surf the internet. It started acting weird last week - we started noticing that the music was starting to sound a bit demonic with the normally sweet tunes starting to get off key and slow down. It was creepy so we stopped using the music. But I noticed that without the music to accompany the twirling birds Benjamin just wasn’t interested. So I went out and bought those massive D batteries yesterday. The birds in the papasan had their music, Ben was enchanted, and all’s well with the world again.
- The baptism plans are underway. It’s so tiring! It’s like having a job.
Hmm….I think that’s all for right now!

lol…omg..i love his hair!
he is so cute!!!
He is just so darn cute.
Oh yeah, I forgot to say - his hair is curly when it’s wet!
He looks just like you in this pic!
Strong legs? Sounds like ya got a little speedskater there
And hey…he does pass the Cuteness Test…yup,. definitely a budding Olympian
I know why I”m having a hard time seeing type on this page and Janet’s blog too. Older people’s pupils are only 1/3 the size of young peoples’.
for a second there, i thought you had ben all gel-led up ‘n stuff! he’s so cute! i anted to play with him at the wedding, but everytime i had an opening, he was asleep in dave’s arms…
He’s so precious. I got to hold him for the first time towards the end of the nite at Claud’s wedding. He fell fast asleep.
Could Benben get any cuter?!
He’s definitely a cutie.
Hi Yano -
Thanks for visiting my site recently - it was a great way to find you and enjoy your site. Your little Benben is adorable! He’s only a month older than our recent addition (who, btw, is also now wearing her 3-month old clothing!). Talk about a chunk! Looking forward to keeping up with you!
guapo!
That is one delicious baby… those eyes!
He is adorable!
Christine, how in the world do you get anything done during the day. I wouldn’t be able to stop looking at that adorable face. Oh and THOSE CHEEKS!!!
That’s funny b/c we are having the same thing happening with our baby papasan swing as we speak…I noticed the creepy music yesterday. Time to change the batteries..take out a loan for battery shopping..
SoOoOo cute!!
Especially the yelling match, that’s hilarious
