It’s OK, I’m Not Going Anywhere…
Gas prices are CRAZY right now! Currently regular gas is $2.97 a gallon at the place down the street, and that’s prettu cheap compared to other places I’ve heard. I haven’t had much of a chance to keep up with the news, all I know is that gas prices are soaring and that the gas companies are going to be making record profits this quarter. Can someone enlighten me - why are the gas prices so high and why aren’t people making more of a stink about the fact that someone is really profiting from it?
Since I’m basically on house arrest for the next 2 1/2 months (fine, it’s called ‘taking care of the baby’) I guess I should count myself lucky. The doc said I can’t even get behind the wheel until my 6 week checkup, though I’m not sure why - I’m walking around the house, climbing stairs with no problem. But not having to go to work is a good thing - I’m saving some money with the commute!
They did a test on the news the other day, seeing how much it costs driving into the city vs. taking the train (which is what I normally do). Currently, it’s $8 round trip to get into the city from the west suburbs (where I am) on the train. Before the gas hike, it took $9 of gas to drive roundtrip into the city - that’s not counting parking. Currently, it’s up to $12 to do the same trip. Isn’t that crazy?
Hopefully the prices go down before I’m done with my maternity leave, it scares me to think that it costs $40 to fill up my tank…
Yeah, gas prices are scary. Public transportation around here sucks so most of us have to drive.
yeah.. gas price are crazy expensive now. This morning i drove past a gas station selling regular gas for $3.27! good grief!!
I have a 2005 4 cylinder Nissan Altima and it cost us 42 and change to fill our tank while i’ts just under a quarter of a tank. WWAHHHHHHHH.
Marketplace checks and balances are the only way Americans will reduce their dependency on oil, and more importantly invest in research for alternatives. Ouch!
Yeah the gas prices suck and I was reading the newspaper today and something about gas profits are up 49% or. RIDICULOUS! and so NOT fair. My gas isn’t a guzzler but it sucks that there is no way around me not driving b/c the lil mister has school across town not to mention karate in another city. You didn’t have a C section so I’m surprised he’s not allowing you behind the wheel. Don’t let the old school Pilipino moms hear that you’ve been trekking up and down the stairs… it’s supposedly bad for your lady parts!
yea, i wanna work from home now. it’s just so freakin’ expensive, and pretty soon it will affect public transpo too. insanity.
Yeah- surprise, surprise… i left for a trip last week and came back to see that gas prices had jumped over 35 cents a gal… it costs almost $50 bucks to fill my ford exploder. Not a chance on dropping prices with summer around the corner.
Gas is nuts. Last summer I once spent $50 to fill up my tank - and I have a little tank!!!
