Glory
I dropped off Dave at the airport early this morning. He’s spending the week in Vail, CO for a “conference”, that is, getting his notes from his friends and snowboarding all week. I’m so jealous - we were supposed to do this trip together, before we found out about the pregnancy. But oh well, life changes when you have kids, right?
I haven’t been able to go back to sleep so I’ve been channel surfing since 6am. I caught “Glory” on, which I just now realized is one of my favorite movies. “Glory” is based on the the true story of the Civil War’s first all black regiment, and all the prejudices that they faced from both sides of the war. It features stunning performances by Matthew Broderick, Denzel Washington (who won an Academy Award for this movie), Morgan Freeman, Andre Braugher and Cary Elwes. One of the best war films ever made!
Every time I see this movie I end up crying like a little baby throughout the movie. It’s so powerful and so emotional! The last ten minutes of the movie just make me hold my breath and send chills up my spine. If you ever have a chance to see this movie, see it, it will definitely be worth your time.
*sniff*
Awwwwww, poor Dave. I hope he breaks a leg. hahahaha Only kidding.
You know he won’t have nearly as much fun without you there.
I love Glory. The most powerful part of the movie for me is when they are lashing Denzel’s character and he lets out a tear or two, but doesn’t even let out a whimper. UGH! That scene kills me!
That was a wonderful movie and I’m not ashamed to admit that I cried at the end. The things that seem so very self evident to us today were simply incomprehensible to people of that era. The anti-slavery people were so far ahead of the main populace, North and South, in their moral development. What are we missingt today?
I wonder when the idea of camoflage came into effect..?
