The baby has been really moving a lot lately, to the point where I’ve been trying to tell him to calm down, since it gets hard for me to concentrate on work when he’s doing his in utero gymnastic routines. He’s moved from just plain kicking to this weird alien like shifting around in my belly. Friends had told me about the sensation, but I didn’t realize how weird it was until it actually happened.

But everytime I feel a movement, it’s almost become second nature for me to immediately feel my belly. I’ve actually been caught rubbing my belly without even knowing it. I dunno, for some reason I find my hands on my belly. It feels good to rub it, like I’m my own person Buddha.

The sensation of feeling this weird, alien creature move within me is incredible, especially when he’s doing his body rolls. I doubt they’re really body rolls, but I have no other way of describing it. It totally freaks Dave out, too, since he’s expecting the feeble little kicks from last month. His eyes always widen when he feels whatever body part it is that’s moving at the time. That’s the other thing. I have no idea what body parts I’m feeling. I’d feel a lump, then think it could be his head…but it could be his back…or maybe even his ass. I wish I had some x-ray glasses to see what position he’s in. Sometimes, it gets to be so much that I’m half expecting the scene from “Alien” where the alien spawn pops out of the man’s belly.
