Got some really great tix for today’s game against the Padres. Turns out that today is half price day, so we got some $66 seats for $33. So watch out for us - we’re in the second section between home plate and the Cubs dugout. Ben will be wearing his Cubs gear, Dave will be wearing a white Cubs jersey and I’ll probably be wearing a brown jacket with my Cubs blue underneath. Hopefully I’ll be able to get some great shots!

Last Saturday we headed out to our first Cubs game of the season. It’s still pretty chilly in Chicago, especially nearer to the lake, so we made sure to dress warm. Even in our sweatshirts, it was pretty cold. Poor Benjamin’s fingers were cold, but that didn’t prevent him from having a great time. All the kids who went to the game got little bear webkinz that we’ll go online later to take care of. The guys who were sitting in front of us had a blast with Ben, calling him “the coolest little guy” as Ben gave out hi-fives after homeruns and danced to the YMCA during breaks. By the end of the game, Ben was hi-fiving everyone in the area, including the guys in the standing room only.
The game was a great - Dempster did a good job, and it got a little nervewracking by the seventh with the Cubs down 2 to 1. But they came back with some awesome hitting. Fukudome, the crowd favorite, capped it all off with a homerun in the bottom of the seventh, which led to the crowd chanting his name for several minutes. In the end, we won 7 to 2, leaving in a crowd of smiles singing “Go Cubs Go” and thinking that maybe, just maybe, this year really IS next year.

UPDATE: Since Redpac is whining, THANKS to him, we had tickets for today, and several other games this year!

The walk was COLD AND RAINY, and even though we opted to only do the mile route, we also took into consideration the extra weight of our clothes being soaked with water AND having to fight the wind and adjust our umbrellas when they turned inside out. Even with the crap-taculous weather, there were a TON of people out - I would say thousands of people, who came to do the race. Next year we want to do a little more organizing and start fund raising early. So even though we were complaining all the time, at least we were all together and were able to laugh about it! I’ll post up pictures (I only used my camera phone) later!
To you mommies out there, HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

It’s 4:30 in the morning and I’m debating on whether or not to wake up Dave and actually try to make it on time to register for the race. Registration is between 6:30am and 7:30, but who knows how it will be with traffic and everything!
Anyway, I’d been a little disappointed with myself this week since I had joined the race and have really done minimal fund raising. I’d been out of town and haven’t had much access to the internet (as you could see by my lack of posts). So when I checked my sponsor list yesterday morning, I wasn’t surprised to see that I really didn’t have a lot - outside of this blog, I really hadn’t made an effort.
Lo and behold, this morning I saw a surge in my sponsors, and Dave and I raised together a total of $545.00, with our whole team raising a whopping $1,730.00 together (thanks largely to the efforts of our other team mates).
So this morning, right before I wake up what will be a cranky Dave who will probably say, “Why are they doing this so early?” I give you. my wonderful readers and my incredibly loved family, a heartfelt THANK YOU. You’ve given me the warm and fuzzies this morning, and I appreciate your support. I will definitely come up with something awesome to show my gratitude to all of you who sponsored!
p.s. I’ll be live-Twittering from the race, check updates on the sidebar!
