A couple days ago we went to the doctor for Ben's 9 month checkup. Last time we were there for his six months checkup he was average for his weight and a little over average for his height. This time around, he was average for his height but at the 25th percentile for his weight. He's turning into a skinny kid!
It's really hard to notice how skinny his is since he usually wears baggy, warm outfits. It's only when he's walking around in just a onesie that you can see his little chicken legs.
Once he started crawling and cruising, all he wants to do is be on the move. It's been pretty difficult to feed him, and for a while he didn't even like drinking milk. Then he was sick and he was throwing up about half his meals. So I'm left with this Nicole Ritchie wannabe, little Skinny McGee. I need to try and fatten him up!
Other than that, it's really remarkable how much he's grown. He's such a fast crawler. Sometimes I'll put him down and run to the kitchen to get something and I'll turn around and he'll be gone. He loves walking along the furniture, and pulling all the books and magazines out from under our coffee table. He's learned how to crawl up stairs (which is pretty terrifying) and is at the point where he can entertain himself with his toys. He's trying to mimic words and sounds that we make, and I'm pretty sure that when he says "Mamamamama" he's talking about me, because I don't hear him use it for any other occasions than crawling towards or reaching for me.
It's incredible to see this progress in him. To think that less than a year ago he was just this living blob that I couldn't entertain. All he did was cry, poop and eat. Now he's this little person who has a personality (he's stubborn and loves to laugh) and he's just soaking in everyting so fast. From playing peekaboo to learning how to feed himself, he's growing into a big boy.
Well, not that big. 'Cuz he's still Skinny McGee.
