Holiday Ben
Ben turned 8 months on Saturday. It's so amazing how time flies! We had a little photoshoot for my Christmas cards, which turned out pretty well. I converted Ben's room into a little photo studio using the natural light from the window and Dave as my assistant. We came up with some pretty adorable pictures!
So since it's the holiday, I've got two sets of Ben collages for ya!

Here's a couple tidbits on Bendeer's development.
About 4 weeks ago, I was sleeping at the in-law's place with Ben and I woke up in the middle of the night. I had heard Ben shuffling around on the bed and I was wondering what he was up to...I opened up my eyes and he was sitting up. I was pretty surprised since he had never sat up on his own before.
After that, I went on a trip to Minneapolis. When I got back, I saw that Ben was getting really close to crawling. He was getting pretty good at getting into the crawling position, but he would end up either sliding backwards or falling into a flailing surfer position. However, that Saturday, he finally figured out how to crawl! He was tentative at first, but as he got more used to it, he got better and better. Now he's a crawling machine! When I'm doing chores I just leave him on the floor and he follows me around like a little puppy.
It seemed as if Ben was just waiting to learn how to crawl - as soon as he figured it out, he started to climb on everything. He loved to find any surface he could grab as he was crawling and get up into a standing position.
Of course, with crawling comes the need to babyproof. Ben's favorite no-no's to chew on are: my laptop powercord, magazines from the coffetable, my fuzzy slippers and the straps on my backpack. I've got a bunch of power outlet protectors, cabinet locks and baby knee pads to crawl on.
I'd like to think his first word is "Mama" since sometimes when he cries he reaches out to me and says, "Mama! Mamamamaaaawaaa!" Then again, he does that when he wants a toy, too.
Ben is usually a really quiet kid in public, prompting many people to say, "Your baby is so serious!" For some reason he has an emotional shutdown when we're out, usually really quiet and taking everying in. But we were at a baptism reception the other day and he would just not shut up! He was talking and yelling up a storm. I have no idea what he was up to. It was cute for the first 10 minutes but after that he was just a little annoying.
Ben had his first haircut last week when my aunt was here. His hair was getting so long that I had to use clips and headbands to keep it out of his face. My aunt had some shearing tools with her so we asked her to give him a trim. I didn't realize he'd be so fidgety when we were cutting his hair so it came out a little uneven and bowl-like (you can see it in the pics above). We went for a second haircut a couple days later and got it cleaned up, so now he's got a pretty short 'do. Pics to be post of that later!
That's about all for right now...I've been so swamped with taking care of Ben, working on Christmas stuff and work that I haven't had much time to take care of this blog. I'll be out of town this week so I'll have more time to update!
Happy Holidays!
