Today is my godson's first birthday party, and the theme of the party is Curious George. Since I wanted to make something that went along with the theme, I saw a couple designs for monkey cupcakes and created my own twist.
I made some banana cupcakes, used some milk chocolate frosting (it's lighter than regular frosting), 3/4 of a regular Nilla Wafer, 2 halves of a Mini Nilla Wafer, and some black and red gel icing for the eyes, nostrils and mouth. They turned out a lot better than I anticipated, though it took a couple tries before I figured what the best design for the eyes. I'm pretty proud of them!
Oh my, I'm turning into a homeroom mom!!!

omg, those are beyond cute. :)
I was wondering where they got those cookies. It was almost too pretty to eat. Can't wait to see what you do for Ben's 1'st b'day party: = )
those cupcakes were soooooo gooooodddd
wow, those look fantastic! and if you take out the two "eyes", you have d.w. from arthur!
omg you made those? i specifically made it a point to grab one before we left. they were so nice that mykel thought they were store-bought...and they tasted GOOOD!
So cute!!! You're so clever.
My niece has loved Curious George since she was a baby. She's going to be 16, but she still loves him. I might have to try making those for her birthday.
Unless you decide to start a baking business, and then I'll be your first customer. :P
Very cute, Miss Yano. They look tasty too.
good job, looks yummy for the tummy
Those are awesome. Damn, i want to eat every one of those little monkeys.
You clever girl! Adam burst into tears when he saw my Grover cake for his 2nd birthday. Yea, it was scary....but these guys are scary cute!
LOL!!! You one smart mommy... i'm gonna have to copy these.
Next time you should try to make the nostrils smaller or the eyes bigger. The alternate view of these things are smiley face-russians with big ears...and two large pieces of charcoal in their enormous hats.
but they're very cute!
