I'm not normally a Nickleback fan, but this is an awesome concept for a video. You don't really understand what's going on in the first part of the video, but as you figure out the "gift" that is given, it's pretty interesting and makes you think a bit...
ooh... if you look at the numbers above their heads, the number is counting down... when the old lady is being carried out on a stretcher, you see her number counting down to zero. i guess it's the amount of time left on this earth? and when the guy is pulled away from the street (so he wouldn't get hit by the bus), he gets more time added to his counter?
Posted by: daysies on June 22, 2006 07:31 PMno wait... there is no counter on top of his head... hmmm... WAIT... now there's a counter... when he saves someone else, he gets the gift of time? i'm sure it's obvious... i'm not getting it :P (or am i close?) LOL
Posted by: daysies on June 22, 2006 07:33 PMI love this band,, am seeing them in July with BonJovi in concert. Can't wait. Great concept for a video,, it works.
Posted by: Tara on June 22, 2006 09:29 PMKat - It goes like this: The man who pulled the lead off the street to save his life had the "gift" before him. When he got saved by the man, the gift transferred over - he was able to see how much time people had to live above their heads. That's why when he passed the pregnant lady, there was a set of numbers by her belly. When he saw the old lady's numbers run out he figured out what was going on. He couldn't see his own numbers because I guess someone with the gift doesn't have them. When he saves the lady at the end, he passed the gift on and got his own set of numbers back, I guess counting down to his new time of death...
Posted by: Yano on June 22, 2006 09:53 PMAhhhh... I had a feeling that was what was going on... Yeah, I was confused. I only saw the video once before I made those last 2 comments. LOL
I love this band, too... Nickelback songs are always so noticeable. You can never miss Chad Kroeger's voice. He always sounds so "loud" to me.
Posted by: daysies on June 22, 2006 11:30 PMI love that video - it's nice to see a music video that tells a story. So many videos have gotten away from that and are just focused on selling shiny happy people. I dig it!
Posted by: Lara on June 23, 2006 10:36 AMThis is my favorite track off of Nickeback's "All The Right Reasons" album. I had it up on MySpace for awhile, but this is the first time I've seen the video, and I like it lots! Thanks for sharing, Christine.
Posted by: Mike on June 23, 2006 02:43 PMNot too crazy about the band, but the video is damn cool.
I think the people with the 'gift' can only see others' numbers and not their own. Very cool.
