So Yeah...I Lied

I went to the doctor today with Dave. Turns out that I didn't gain 27 pounds. My scale at home is a bit off. I've actually gained 35 pounds.

Interestingly enough, 25-35 pounds was what the doctor expected me to gain FOR MY WHOLE PREGNANCY.

Well now, that's not gonna work, is it?

But as a side note (that really means nothing) you may remember that I had lost about 5lbs during the first month or so of my pregnancy, so the way I look at it, I just gained 30lbs. That's not as bad, right?

I've gained 10lbs since my last visit, which prompted my doc to ask, "Has anything changed since the last time we saw each other?"

"Um," I stuttered, "I went to Vegas..."

"...and you pigged out?"

"Well, all they have are buffets out there..."

With that said, she told me to watch out. I don't need to go on a crazy diet or anything, but typically women gain 1lb a week in the last trimester, which would put me at about 50lbs by the end of the pregnancy.

Eek.

So after a "goodbye to gluttony" lunch at my favorite restaurant, Cafe Iberico, I am on the road to healthy eating.

On the positive side, my baby has stopped his massive growth spurt. He's on his way to being a big baby, not a BIG baby. Also, I passed my glucose test, which means that I don't have gestational diabetes, something I was really afraid of since diabetes runs in my family.

Glad to hear that everything is more or less okay other than the weight thing. Yeah it's so trying. Again, blame the baby. Say he's making you eat all the food b/c he's not getting enough nourishment ;).

I agree with the blame the baby statement. But, do you do any walking for at least a little exercise? Of course, consult your physician before you begin any exercise program. It'll help your metabolism when the baby comes, so you can start losing, too. Plus, it will make you feel better. Yes, this is coming from someone without children, but remember... I used to be a whale!!!

Glad to hear you and the baby are both doing well. Walking is a great exercise but the midwest weather doesn't always cooperate.

hahaha..when i was nearing the 40 lb. mark, i got the "you know, this is just more weight you're going to have to lose after" speech...from my DOCTOR!

I think you look great! Just remember...it takes a little extra nourishment to create a future pool hustling ladies man.....I should know ;) LOL.....

You know...when I look at my belly, I just think that FAT is the NEW THIN.

that's good about the diabetes that you got cleared with that from the
doctor.

mild walking is good esp. with the
treadmill.

Or... you can blame someone that encouraged the buffets. :) uh... Sorry. :(

Starting some sort of regular exercise now will serve you in good stead Yano. Those endorphines are as good as the weight control....a home treadmill sounds like a good idea, given your weather and work schedule. I'm glad your little Bundle of Joy isn't going to be a Bundle of Bruiser!
