The Force Is Strong In Him

As you may have heard me mention before, my cousin "Trully" was expecting, and I have been planning on calling him "Vader", no matter what they decide to name him.

More than a week overdue, little Vader was born last Sunday night, the happiness of my whole family. Of course, there was a small subset of us that were upset that EVERYONE who bet in our baby pool lost. We were all so sure that Vader would be born early since Trully was so huge that we all placed our bets for days before the actual due date. We decided that if Vader outsmarted us and was born after the last time frame, he'd get to keep the money we put into the bet and put it toward college. Not only was he born after the last bet - he was born four days after the last bet!

If that doesn't prove that he's a young jedi to be, I don't know what is!

I went to the hospital yesterday to check him out and see how the proud mama and papa were doing. Trully and her husband Irio are doing well, Irio's so proud and couldn't stop telling stories about the delivery, as gory as they are. Vader is adorable - he was born with a head full of hair and he big, bright curious eyes. They had me hold him a couple times, and I admit to being a bit nervous - there are people who are naturally great with newborns, but I'm not one of them. That whole floppy head thing freaks me out - I'm so paranoid that if you don't support his head that it'll just fall off.

Fortunately for everyone, his head did not fall off as I held him. There were a couple close calls when I tried burping him, but he's ok.

Vader's such a cute baby and I'm so happy that our family has another member. Pictures to come in the future...be sure of it!
