Happy Fourth of July, everyone!
Maui had a big Fourth of July cookout yesterday at his place. There was tons of food there (Maui is a grilling MONSTER!) and his backyard was a flurry of activity. The little kiddies played on Jillian's clubhouse funplace and the big kiddies played football and volleyball. It's a wonder no one got injured with the little kids running about and the volleyballs and footballs flying about! Having a huge yard is great for parties!
I was tossing the football around with 'always a spiral' Shannon and I must have done something to my index finger, because right now it's as big as a sausage, and I can't bend it too well. Yet I still sit here typing a post.
Dave had offered to do a makeshift splint for me made up of popsicle sticks and tape, but we don't have any popsicle sticks in the house, so I'll just have to suck it up.
We also watched 'The Village', which was as bad as I thought it was going to be. Of course, I had Justin tell me what 'the secret' was after he had watched the movie months ago, so nothing was a surprise to me. But I think if I had watched the movie not knowing what it was, I would have been angry for the whole rest of the movie because it was so lame.
Irio and the rest of the boys had driven to Indiana the day before to buy fireworks (buying fireworks in Illinois is illegal). They had about $300 worth, and they lit them all off yesterday. I feel bad for Maui's lawn, which is all scorched right now. We were placing bets as to who would be the first one injured. Luckily, no one was injured....too badly, anyway. The guys were so funny lighting them, Irio had a maniacal glee in his eyes, or as someone put it, 'He looks like a diabetic in a candy store'.
But they entertained the rest of us, even though it scared some of the little kiddies.
Good times!

Posted by: SusanG on July 4, 2005 04:59 PMThe Village is one of those movies where you enjoy it while you're in the theatre b/c you're all caught up in the story and stuff, but once you reach the light of day and have a chance to ponder all that you've seen, you start to see the big gaping plot holes and you have more questions that can't be answered.
Hope your finger's better.
