Jam Packed Weekend

Whew! What a busy weekend! I'll do a day by day recap, so I can fit everything in...

Friday

Work was super busy, yet not super busy. Afterward, we headed out to Cy's Steakhouse for Manny's 30th birthday dinner. The food there was AWESOME. Even the butter and garlic cloves they gave with the bread was great. They roast whole garlic cloves in butter and olive oil and serve it with butter for your bread. The garlic gets so soft you can spread it on the bread, and it's so delicious! I'm salivating just thinking of it!

After dinner, where Manny reigned supreme after finishing his super huge steak first, me and Dave went to one of his doctor things.

One of his coworkers was having a party at Zella's. I endured some polite social banter, but I'm still getting comfortable with going to these things. I've never been a good socializer, even with people I am friends with. So in situations like that, I get very anxious and antsy. But I sucked it up because it was Dave's time to schmooze and hang out with his work friends. As he was talking to one of his coworkers, I noticed that his coworker's girlfriend was just as bored as I was. So we started talking and really hit it off. Of course, it helped a bit that she was totally trashed. By the end of the night, I had her professing her non-lesbian love for me to Dave. Yep, I can turn on the charm when I need to!

Afterwards, we headed to Betty's Blue Star for more Manny festivities. He was extremely happy, if ya know what I mean. I got a chance to hang out and talk to Rachel, who I haven't really talked to for such a long time. It was nice to see all the old U of I faces. I love these people!!!

Saturday

I went to the bank to finally change my personal account name to my new name. It's such a big hassle because they have to create a new account for me, rather than just changing my current account.

I went over to my dad's place after that to cut Fatima's hair. She's told me that she wants it re-done - it's not short enough and looks a little rough at the bottom. I'll fix it later this week, since I don't want an unhappy customer. It's been a while since I've cut hair, so I think I lost my touch. If I ever really had one.

Ran home after that to get ready for Dave's family party. We hung out there for a while, chilling out with his cousins. I had about 4 or 5 aunties come up to me and actually TOUCH my belly, asking me if I was pregnant yet. I politely told them, 'No, but we'll be sure to let you all know when it happens!' I know they mean well, but it's really a freaking feeling having someone put their hands on your belly fat!

We were also going to go to another work party for Dave, but he was too tired to go. We had a late night before that, and we were also planning on taking out my friend's cousin who was visiting from out of town. It was tricky to plan the whole night, since people needed to be picked up, a location had to be named, etc. Gil was a rock star because he volunteered to pick people up, and made plans for where we could all party at. Thanks to the cousins and friends for coming out with us, too. We headed out to Vision, which is next door to Excalibur. Even though it was totaly a touristy night, we still managed to have fun and get on the dance floor. I miss dancing so much! That's what I miss the most about not clubbing as much as I did before. The whole staying out late and waking up smelling like smoke I can live without, but dancing when the music is good and my body is just feeling it is the best feeling! I'm thinking of converting my basement into my own private dance club.

The new McDonald's was our late night eating place after the club, and it looks even bigger at night. Beware, travelers - you have to pay $8 parking on weekends!

Sunday

My cousin Trully wanted to go to a couple of the art shows in downtown Chicago, today, with an early 10am call time at her place. I call it early because we got home at 4am, and I was not happy to wake up!

After getting lost for about half an hour (I was within 5 blocks of the place the whole time) I finally got to their place. Irio had made some rockin' scrambled eggs (Brazil must have the best food ever), and I cooked up the bacon. We were so full after breakfast, we decided to forget the art shows and just lounge around in the house. The weather outside was crappy anyway!

Instead of reveling in art, we reveled in 'Blade: Trinity'. Which was actually a good movie. Jessica Biel looked HOT in the movie, and I am impressed with how chiseled her arms were. She looked great! Ryan Reynolds looked great as well, I didn't know he was that buff.

After napping on the couch for a couple hours (I was pooped) and eating some fresh brownies and ice cream, I came home to make dinner for my man and pay some bills.

Whoo! What a weekend!

Monday, I'm off to Columbus!

We did get some cultural enlightenment in. We watched "The Motorcycle Diaries" after you left - it's in Spanish, with subtitles - and we ate Thai and Japanese food for dinner. =)

If you watch "The Amityville Horror", you can REALLY check out Ryan Reynolds' buffness!
