Went to my hair guy today, my hair has been so 'blah' lately I felt that it neded a little work done. I've been asking around what people thought of my getting bangs, and the general consensus was 'NO!'. So of course, when Jack, my awesome hair guy, asked me what I needed done, I said, 'Bangs!'
He looked at me in the mirror, played around with my hair a little, and said, 'Um, are you really sure about that?'
'Um, yeah?'
'Well, your hair doesn't naturally fall on your face.'
'Um, long bangs? Maybe layered?'
'Hmm, we'll see.'
So he worked his magic.
I love Jack. He's been doing my hair since I started working downtown, and he knows me all too well. He was there for long hair, short hair, blue hair, greenish gray hair (which he still is upset with me for doing). I felt a little guily last year for cheating on him with a hairstylist in Long Beach, but he has since forgiven me, although I'm still growing out the razor work that my LB stylist did. He knows what works with my hair and what doesn't.
If he says bangs don't work, I'll believe him.
He played around with my hair, cutting here and there, and cut my 'bangs' to about my nose. He also created long layers to compliment the bangs. I started to get a little worried when he started blowdrying my hair, because I realized, yes, maybe asking for bangs was a bad idea. What would have happened if I asked him for regular bangs?
But as he finished up, I felt like a pinup model from the 50's, all glammed out with soft curls of hair all over, and my sideswept bangs just covering my eyes. My hair had a lot more life and movement. He calmed down the poof of my hair a bit, and when we looked at the finished product, we both let out a collective, 'Wow! That looks pretty good!'
See, I *told* you bangs would be good. Fine, it's not really bangs. It's long layers. But I'll call them bangs from now on.
Of course, I had to run back to the office and take this picture in the bathroom before my hair rebelled and went back to it's naughty ways.

Get a good look now. Tomorrow I'll have no idea how to do my hair and who KNOWS what's going to happen!
Posted by Yano at April 1, 2005 07:53 PMWOWZA! it looks great Christine.. i even think that if you had cut them a little shorter it would still look as good...
Posted by: Shannon on April 1, 2005 08:08 PMOoh, it looks awesome... and looks totally natural (ie, not like you have to 'style' it). So hopefully you'll find it easy to maintain!
I don't blow my hair dry, ever, information which makes hair stylists roll their eyes and sigh and throw down their scissors in exasperation.
Posted by: noelle on April 1, 2005 08:23 PMWow, you'rea bombshell!

I just cut bangs, too, and my youngest brother, who can always bring me nack down to Earth no matter how I'm feeling told me that I look like I'm back in the 80's. Be thankful you have sisters.
But nonetheless, even if you were bald, you'd still be gawwwwwwwwjus!!!!
Posted by: Texx on April 2, 2005 02:03 AMLooks great! I have a hair stylist who I have been going to for about 10 years. She is awesome. I've heard those very same words. "Are you sure you want to do that?" This woman has made me Permed me (My famous Bon Jovi Hair), Straightened me, Blonde me, Red me, Bobbed me, and gave me the messy do I have had for the last 5 years. I'm letting it grow out now, but "Am I sure I want to do that?" LOL

Maria, I had highlights done last year or so, and I'm in the process of growing them out. That is, until I get the urge to do them again.
