Farewell, Dear Friend

On Monday, I lost a good friend. A friend that has been there with me through many if not all of my adventures throughout the last 3 years.

My Purse.

Yes. I broke my purse, and there's no way I can fix it. The plastic clasp broke, and the purse won't shut anymore.

It may not seem like a big deal, but I've used this purse for the last three years. Anyone who knows me will know that this thing is permanently attached to my hip. It's not a real purse, actually, it's a camera bag (and many people have pointed it out). But I've kept my whole life in there - my camera, cell phone, credit cards, money, extra batteries, keys, everything has its special place. This purse has been with me everywhere. It has seen so many cities. It has been with me through all my adventures - if that purse could talk it could tell you some pretty interesting stories about me.

...and now it's done and unusable. *cries*

Unlike many other ladies, I don't have a collection of purses to fall back to. I have two other purses, but they're for formal occasions. I need a functional purse. Unfortunately, the purse I had is no longer available. I had to run to Target yesterday (yeah, it was a short lived boycott) to find another. I HATE HATE HATE purses. I can never find one I like. But considering that I'm going out of town today, I really needed to find a replacement. So I found one that had enough space for all my crap (which looks twice as big) and doesn't get in my way. But I noticed on the commute to work that it still gets in my way. I guess it will do for now.

I also had to buy a wallet. (is that what it's called? I don't even know. My old purse WAS my wallet) I got a pretty cheap one that even came with a place for pictures. It won't fit my 8x10 glossy of myself, but maybe I'll stick a picture of me and Dave in there.

Yes. I'm officially an old married lady now.

*sigh*

I miss my old purse.

I can't remember when you weren't there
When I didn't care for anyone but you
I swear we've been through everything there is
Can't imagine anything we've missed
Can't imagine anything the two of us can't do

Through the years
You've never let me down
You turned my life around
The sweetest days I've found
I've found with you
Through the years
I've never been afraid
I've loved the life we've made
And I'm so glad I've stayed
Right here with you
Through the years

-"Through the Years" by Kenny Rogers

You're my boy, Blue!

...I'm such a cheesey sap.

But that's why you love me!

I bet if you REALLY had time, you could make a nice flash site about your purs... I mean friend... with the song playing in the background. (I can't believe you actually wrote out the lyrics to Through The Years.. I imagine End of Road will be there when your car reaches its last breath)

LOL I know just how you feel. I have been using the same purse for at least 2 years now. Oh how I dread the pain you are going through! But I just can't think that far into the future! I went through something simular with a pair of riding boots. They were the BEST! The soles had holes in them, no laces left and yes I had them held together with duct tape! It was JUST SO HARD TO THROW THEM AWAY!!! LOL
