In the last few years I've been to Vegas, Disney World and Land, Minneapolis\St. Paul, Washington D.C., St. Louis, Louisville, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Sandusky OH, Kansas City, New Orleans and I've already got the Memphis music festival planned for later this year.
What I need from you faithful Yanowhatimean readers is suggestions on where to go next. I get more vacation time with this new company and I want somewhere cool to go to. Tell where to go and why. Tell me the cool, secret, off the beaten path places to visit. I want to know about kick ass restaurants, festivals and events I shouldn't miss.
Tell me Tell me Tell me!!!

why?
because i live here, and therefore, by default, this very fact makes it cool.
that, and you can say, 'i'm international, baby' in that annoying, yet oddly sexy sounding austin powers voice.
and no, there's no SARS or mad cow disease.
Posted by: bernadette on January 11, 2005 04:35 PMTexas, particularly San Antonio in April when Fietsa is going on.
We have, of course, the Alamo, Sea World and a Six Flags (Fiesta Texas), not to mention the "famous river walk" with all kinds of restaurants and night life. If you come during April for Fiesta, you can also take in all kinds of cutural events like NIOSA (Night In Old San Antonio) a street fair of sorts where there's more culture, food, beer, games and people than one can imagine. One weekend has Oyster Bake and on the other you can go to Taste of New Orleans. It's just a week full of fun. No one should go without this experience.
Posted by: Texx on January 11, 2005 05:08 PMhow about Seattle? i've only been there once, but i plan on going there again. you could go to the space needle and gorge yourself on sushi.
Posted by: chattykathy on January 11, 2005 05:08 PMBernadette's right, try a new country next time! Go to some country where you don't speak a word of the language and make the rounds of all the pubs. And the roller coasters.
Posted by: noelle on January 11, 2005 05:32 PMI've lived in Texas and been all over Texas, I would say skip it.
My suggestion Paris, Rome, Venice, Switzerland, Amsterda - South Africa, Costa Rica, heck there are hundrends of other countreis. I must agree with Noelle.. Ticket prices to foreign countries are just as much as going to hawaii. You'll never see the U.S. the same way again once you leave. It makes you a better person.
Posted by: Mona on January 12, 2005 12:19 AMVancouver, BC and on over to Vancouver Island to check out Victoria then back over to Vancouver and up to Whistler.
It is unbelievable because in Victoria, you feel like you are in England and in Whistler, you feel like you are in Switzerland. Lots of international people visit these places so you completely forget you are even in North America.
Posted by: janet on January 12, 2005 10:46 AMI agree that you should go out of the country. But I wouldn't recommend a trip to Western Europe or Canada. You're young! Be adventurous! You can do those places when you retire.
Central America is a good option because it is not too far away. But I would say skip Costa Rica... it's gotten expensive and WAY too touristy. Instead, try Honduras. It's just as beautiful as Costa Rica, but less touristy and not as expensive. You can relax on the beach, go whitewater rafting, or venture into the rain forest. They also have amazing ruins to explore. Nicaragua & Guatamala are also very beautiful, but you have to be more careful there in terms of safety, which can wear on you sometimes.
Have a great vacation!
Posted by: PA on January 12, 2005 02:45 PMI say you Go to HELL. That would be the town of Hell in the Cayman Islands. While you are there you can stop by the World Famous "Inferno Lounge". Highly recommended. And when all the fun ends stop by one of the many banks and launder some money.
Posted by: Jerry on January 12, 2005 05:50 PMWhy not got to Hawaii? There are a lot of great restaurants, different islands to visit and places that are touristy and places where the locals hang out. You can do many activities like skiing and then going to the beach on the same day. There are a lot of places to see and explore the natural beauty of the islands. Plus the women are hot! If you like history, there are a lot of historical places. If you like outdoor activities, lots to do. There is something for everyone in Hawaii.
