Since Jen has been in town, I've actually been around Long Beach more than I had in the 7 or so months I've been living here.
Earlier this week, we went out to lunch with a friend and got a little tour and history of Long Beach and Seal beach. Then we ate at Ruby's at the pier, which has a pretty tasty fish and chips.
Then yesterday I got to drive around downtown Long Beach for a good amount of time after I got lost when trying to figure out where Jen and her convention friends were at. So I got to see the Pike, Shoreline Village, took a turn in the scary docks where I swear that the mob had some deals going down, got stuck in the parking lot of the Queen Mary, drove around the aquarium, almost got myself lost in Terminal Island. Quite fun, yet quite scary at the same time. Finally found Jen at Tequila Jacks, which coincidentally was next to The Yardhouse, the first restaurant that the Long Beach gang took me to during my first visit here.
Well, at least I have a LOT of ideas of places for me and Dave to have dinner!

In other news, work is totally kicking my butt today. And the thing is, I don't even think I'm supposed to be doing the things that I'm doing here. Its not in my contract, but I spent 5 hours today helping them migrate their database. I was here last year helping them build a package to automatically move it, and yesterday (a whole year later!) they ran it and got a whole bunch of errors. We went over the errors today, and to tell the truth, I don't remember a lot of the work I did last year. But when I looked at the errors, I didn't think that they would have been things that I would have left undone - I specifically remember running it and not getting any errors, and making exception rules for the special tables. The file that they were running didn't have those exception rules. Then I found out that the file was last modified on May 15th, 2003. I told him I think I was here in April, that the file had been modified since I was here last. But I wasn't sure. But thank God for blogs (and tonight I'll check my expense reports), I had blogged when I was here last.
So is it my fault? Or did someone mess with the work that I did?
ARGH! I'm so spent right now!

sorry i didn't say anything on aim, i found this cute mmorpg that's on a trial base right now, but i'm matching clothes for my character like there's no tomorrow. am i a dork or what?
