Feels Like Home

Back from St. Louis. Or O'Fallon, if you will.

LA/LB is really starting to feel like home to me. Nothing feels better than getting in your car from a long trip, driving on the highway and heading home. Seeing familiar landmarks, billboards, and finally your exit. It's the nicest feeling of contentedness and relief.

It's the greatest feeling when I'm home home - that is, my house in Chicago. Coming into the house, having Ewok run up to me and run around in circles and smelling my dad's cooking, throwing my stuff down and just chilling in my room. I think I'm getting a little homesick!

But nothing beats the happiness I felt when I would return back to Urbana for college after summer or winter break. Driving down I-57, finally getting to 74 and taking the Lincoln St. exit. Just a mile down, and it was Green St. Turn to the left, and it's Urbana, turn to the right, and you're on your way to the quad. I would always be overjoyed to be at the place where I belonged, where my friends were my family away from home. I think that's why I went back so many times, just to get that feeling again, though the more I went back, the more I felt like an old lady.

I miss it a lot, but it's a time I can only visit in memories now...there's really nothing left there for me... :( Well....maybe I'll go back again...I'm sure Dave wants to drive there for some football games and basketball games next season!
