Still restless.
Dave has a pretty tough schedule, working 12+ hours a day, having to get to work at 5am. He gets home, and he's exhausted and eats dinner, then sleeps early, because he has to get up at 4am.
I've been having bouts of insomnia. I'm tired during the day, but at night can't sleep earlier than 1am. Since I've been working at home, and not going out for lunch, I've been alone a lot this week. It's good and bad. I've had a lot of time to think, which is bad, but I've also had a lot of time to work on the things that I've wanted to work on - stuff around the house, things on this site, etc. I'm getting tired of this layout already. I'll probably change it by the end of the week then bring it back for Valentines.
I've been cooking all week. I know, Claudine and Fata, I know...what's happened to me? Nothing fancy, don't worry. On Thursday I made a meal for Dave so it was ready when he came home from work, and he came home about an hour and a half late. Before I could stop myself I gave him the 'I cooked this meal for you so it would be warm when you come home, and now it's all cold. The least you could do is call!' speech. He was too tired to complain or answer back, and I felt bad.
Someone shoot me, please! I'm turning into an annoying wife!
Tomorrow: Kitty hits the slopes for the first time! Wish me luck...I hope I don't hurt her!
Posted by Yano at February 7, 2004 02:48 PMas with most residency programs, life will get better after the first year.. I pretty much live the same life right now, except I'm not as lucky to have wife to help me out like a lot of my colleagues and Dave :) Instead, I usually just buy some crap on the way home to eat, surf the net, and then sleep.
I know it's tough, but it could definitely be worse -- just be happy he's not doing surgery. I have a friend here who dropped out of neurosurgery because his wife literally would only see him once every 2-3 days. Some of the things significant others do here are sending random text pages during the day or even bring dinner for the team during call nights and such -- you know, just to keep things real.
Hang in there! :)
Posted by: Pooh on February 7, 2004 09:10 PMyou ARE getting domestic!! cooking all week, and giving Dave the "I cooked for you!!" speech!! and that's just one of those speeches--other variations are when you make something they don't like "I slaved over your dinner, so eat it!" or something like that--not that I would know!! ;)
p.s. I'm sure Kitty was the prettiest board on the slopes today--hope you had fun with no injuries!!
I wrote about my day in the snow under the 'Tips' post. :)
