I Have Been to the House of Evil

So a friend of mine, J--, told me that she had just gotten a part-time job at this store that she's been talking about. Being a curious cat, I stopped by there on my way home from work, thinking that maybe I'd see her there, and also because I wanted to check this place out.

As soon as I walked in, I felt it. It hit me.

I had stepped foot into the house of evil, and it goes under the name "Archivers".

Ok, ok. So it's not evil. To the lay person, it's just a memory scrapbooking superstore. Scrapbooks everywhere. Patterned paper everywhere. Stamps, stickers, embossers, patterned paper punchers, designer rotary cutters, everywhere, everywhere EVERYWHERE!

But to me, it was something more. It was the equivalent of a kid walking into Disneyland. I drooled. I sighed. I broke out into a sweat. I walked from display to display. I had to tell myself 'Calm down, it's JUST a store.' I haven't been this enthusiastic about a store since the first time I walked into Hobby Lobby.

The thoughts 'If only I had a million dollars, I would buy...' and 'Ohh, embossing! I can do that!' came to my mind constantly. A million and one scrapbooking projects came to mind as I went through each and every aisle. Little voices in my head whispered 'What every girl needs is a rotary trimmer' and 'You know, being a stay-at-home mom working on scrapbooks wouldn't be TOO bad!' and 'Christine, you can MAKE the time to make these scrapbooks - you don't sleep anyway!'

Can you imagine what a kick-ass wedding album I can make, given enough time and the archival 12x12 satin top-loading photo memory book album, complete with bow and expandable pages?

Only through prayer and slapping myself in the face several times did I leave the building unscathed, with my pocketbook untouched. Also, the Dave on my shoulder that was grumbling, 'Christiiiiiiiiine, we don't have the money for this!' helped, too.

Doesn't matter. I'm going back there on Thursday for the 'Wedding Creations' craft workshop.

J--, your soul may rot in hell for telling me of this place.

I love that girl.

Oh Christine --- scrapbooking wil get you hooked! I'm still wishing to be that stay-at-home mom working on my scrapbooks, but I've got to keep working to pay for my supplies :)

I went to one in Downers Grove! What a great store. I see that they're having a gigantic Archivers convention at the Mall of America too. I LOVE IT!
