X-Men 2: To See or Not to See?

Well, X-Men 2 comes out at midnight tonight, and seriously, I forgot it was coming out! True, Kelly Hu (below) looks dead sexy in the movie, and I'd love to see her as Lady Deathstrike, but the first movie cause such a flurry of conflicting emotions while I was watching it that I don't know if I could go through it again.

But I'll probably go see it. Well, I'll certainly go see it. I'm just a little sad that I'm not more excited to see it. I was SO hyped up to see the first one, and it didn't hold up to my standards. True, being a fan of the X-Men for so long made me critical, and there was no way a 2 hour movie could encompass the different facets and capture the personalities behind our favorite mutants, but still, come on, no one knows Rogue's real name! Bobby Drake wasn't a student at the school as the same time as Rogue! Storm doesn't say lame lines! Mystique carries guns, and she's tough as nails. I had a lot of criticisms. I admit, the movie was entertaining (Dave, a non-comic reader, loved it) I think I was expecting too much, which really wasn't fair to the movie.

But in a way, the movie had one shining moment for me. Patrick Stewart had always been my pick for Professor X. Way back when me and Fatima made our X-Men casting call, way before they had even had the movie in the works. Seeing him on screen as my favorite professor just made me smile, and my heart leapt. He's so AWESOME as Professor X! It's almost as if he was the Professor X in my head, everytime I read the comic.

Anyway, here's mine and Fata's list...remember, this was like 10 years ago...

Jean Grey - Nicole Kidman (yeah, like THOSE two will do a movie together!)

OMG Christine!!!!! I did the same thing as you and Fatima did (like 10 yrs ago)!!!! I got 2 the same as you: Patrick Stewart as Professor X and Angela Bassett as Storm. OOOOoh that's hilarious!!! Those were the only two that I was sure of casting. LOL And you know who my pick for Jubilee? me... Heehhehe...

I just got back from the theatre... it was alright. Too bad Kelly Hu didn't have any lines of substance, if she had any lines at all.. hrm. vewy thexy though. heh heh.

Hi! New to your site and a first time poster! :) Anyway, I did this a while back too and here are some of my picks from what I remember...

First off, I would have saved Kelly Hu for Psylocke if they ever got that far...
Patrick Stewart and Angela Basset are on the money,
Schwarzenegger as Colossus,
Robin Williams as Wolvie,
Harry Connick as Gambit,
Yancy Butler as Gene,
John Leguizamo as Nightcrawler...

Angela Bassett should havebeen Storm in the first place after all Storm was leader of the X-Men, Halle Berry was a chick not a soon to be leader also the movie focused to much on Wolverine what about the story of Cyclops/Havok also the origin of Xavier they really messed up the franchise completely.

Angela Bassett Must be Storm a gorgeous Black woman not a Bi-racial person playing Black rude and insulting when will Hollywood wake up.

Also they need to up date the mansion, shwoing the monorail to the hanger not under the swimming pool spefx were excellent need to show more X-men no Thunderbird no Banshee come on Bryan Singer.

Magneto:Rutger Hauer

Storm Angela Bassett

Most of the list would stay the same Nightcrawler can be the same Wolverine would have to beshorter say 5ft6in tall but needs a serious work out to have a broader build to slim.

They should have consulted Chris Claremeont & Jiohn Byrnes, for stories that would have been awesome.

ANGELA BASSETT for STORM, Pyro was never a member of te XMEN he was a freedom force man with the like of Mystique he's Australian.

Storm, Cyclops, Magneto, Wolverine, Xavier should have there own movies to explain who they are in detail.
