Bryan had a $25 gift certificate to Buca di Beppo, and he had said that he was going to take Dan and me out to lunch with it. Then we had found out that he had told Tony the same thing. So last week it was a fight between us to see who would win Bryan's affections, and who he would take out to lunch.
So today, we were bugging him, and he gave up and just gave me, Dan and Tony the gift certificate, and said he didn't feel like going anyway. What a guy. So we went out to Bucca, and we got the table in the kitchen, which is what we consider to be the 'cool' table. We got to talk to the other waiters and the cooks and got to see what all the food looks like. Let me tell you, their lunch portions are HUGE! The meatball they serve with the meatball spaghetti is this chunk of meat that's 1/2 a pound, and their garlic/mozarella bread is as big as a slice of pizza. It's a lot of fun to sit back there, because you get to watch them make the food and get everything prepared, and all the staff is pretty friendly and they answer any questions you have about the food and what's in it.
So for lunch we had bruschetta, ceasar salad, penne romano pasta, meat rigatoni, shrimp parmigianna, and tiramisu. And boy, they weren't shy with the rum in the tiramisu! I swear I got a little buzz after having a couple slices. We left stuffed like that fat piggies that we are. All thanks to Bryan. You are my hero.
