60,000 Brides in Chicago

There are 60,000 brides getting ready for their weddings in Chicago at any one given time. And I believe every single one of them was at the Bridal Expo I attended yesterday. The place was PACKED! I could hardly breathe. I still need to find a florist and a photographer, so at the last minute I decided to go. I've also been doing a lot of research online, but I don't think I'm any closer to finding either one. We'll see. The photographer is my top priority right now. Those are my memories. And for those of you that know me, you know I have an AWFUL memory. So I need to get a photographer that captures my day, every little detail, every little emotion, so that anyone can see the pictures and know what a great day it was for me.

Saw the Golden Globes yesterday. What in the hell was Lara Flynn Boyle wearing? She made Bjork's swan dress look normal. I mean, the outfit is cute and everything, if you're playing ballerina dressup for your boyfriend, but to wear at a formal event like that? I dunno. Other than that, everyone else looked gorgeous!

I have GOT to watch Chicago. Man. I loved the musical, and it looks like Catherine Zeta Jones, Renee Zellweger and Richard Gere make an awesome ensemble. I just need to get my lazy ass out and get to a theater. Congrats to them winning their Golden Globes. And I love with Gere said at the end of his speech, 'And I'd like to thank my wife, who taught me how to smile.' Everybody now! 'AWWWWWWWWWWW'

Ok first, GO SEE CHICAGO! It completely rocks! I loved it!

On the photography thing, the key thing for you to decide is what you want. You have already decided its important which is a good first step. Most brides do the picture thing merely out of obligation because they know their families will want scrap books with all those poses in them. For those brides any run of the mill photographer is ok.

Do you want something like Mona wants? A photojournalistic style? Heavy on candid shots and details? You just have to think about your vision.

Interviewing photographers is key, but if they have websites you can sometimes get a sense of what they are about from their galleries. When you find the right one you'll know. Don't get down if some of them brush you off because of asking too many questions, you are spending good money and you better be satisfied with everything :)

remember what Amy said about checking references and talking to people whose weddings they photographed...

And oh yeah, dude, you gotta see Chicago! I was speechless! And DAYM can Catherine Zeta-Jones belt out a tune!

The more I hear about what you want I was very happy with my one photographer. I'll try to find out his name, but if possible, I'd call this guy directly. He was a pro! I all sorts of great pictures, where he caught moments and emotions, several with Tony and I, one with my mom and me, one with the flowergirl eating a Rice Krispie treat before hand, and more...all bringing me back to that exact moment and feeling....which I've never experienced with the photos from the other guy. His style is photojournalist. He tells you to just do your thing and he just follows you around...at first, its awkward, but then its your day and you glow...which I know you will...damn I'm writing a novel...I'll have to email or talk to ya...

Uh, Claudine, I thought WE were going to see Chicago together!

*sigh*

Amy - I don't know if I've ever heard you used the word 'Damn' before, have I? We'll definitely talk!

Raven - I'd like a mix of traditional and photojournalistic. I love the pj style, but I know that the parental units would like to have the obligatory posed-type pictures. But to me, poses don't come close to displaying the emotion of the event. The little nuances that make it my special day.

Which is why I definitely need to have TWO photographers!
