Going Back in Time
Well,
BloggerPro wrote to me and asked me to recount my highschool memories on my blog. Here goes!
Anyway, I don't remember much of high school. I was a nerd. A band nerd. I loved music, I loved band. Everything you saw in American Pie, that was me (well, I didn't play the flute). We went to band camp. We went on band trips. And any conversations we had outside of those places were about those places. We hung out together all the time, partied together, dated each other. A nice little nerd community. But some of the best, most genuine people I've ever known. My band director was the best teacher I ever had. Ever watch Mr. Holland's Opus? He was a little something like that. As for other people in my class, I remember a bunch of snobby popular people. People who really didn't care to get to know the person inside, who just saw a social stereotype and treated it accordingly. Of course, there were exceptions, and I did have good friends in school. It wasn't as horrible of an experience as I may portray it to be. There were a lot of great teachers, great enough to make me forget the awful ones. I did lots of stuff. I was vice-president of the Math Club because I knew that the VP didn't have any responsibilities. I was on the academic team. I loved the chicken hoagies in the cafeteria. I drew the cover of our literary magazine. I loved listening to 'Supersonic' and 'Brown Eyed Girl' on the jukebox in the cafeteria. I was in the drama club, but never tried out for any school plays. I was a super nerd. But I woudn't have had it any other way. There were a lot of great experiences. Many laughs shared, a lot of growing up done together. When I look back, it seems that I was so innocent then, so unaware of how complicated life could be outside of those halls. It always comes down to that phrase 'If I knew then what I know now...' I would have really caused a ruckus in school! Yeah, so that's it in a very small nutshell.
