Well, last Saturday my family and Dave's family went for some dim sum in Chinatown. It was really tasty and my belly sang.
Afterwards, we had a meeting with Council of Elrond epic proportions. I shall hereby call it the Council of Dave and Christine's Wedding. My dad wanted to have a meeting because he wants to get a timeline together. It stresses me out. Not only do I get the stress of planning my wedding, but I also get the stress of everyone else NAGGING me to plan my wedding. It was good in some ways, though, to get some of my opinions about the wedding aired (and Dave's opinions, too). It got a little heated when we started discussing who would be in the wedding party. It's a fragile game of family politics that you have to dance around, and me and Dave don't want to do it. But we've got to hear the parents out. It becomes a battle of the old generation vs. the new generation. They believe that if we don't have some people as part of our wedding party (or invited to the wedding for that matter) they'll be upset. Well, it's our wedding. And only 250 people can go. What we're trying to stick with is that we're going to invite our friends, and then whatever relatives that we want to be there, then if there's any spots left, it can be filled in on people that our parents feel SHOULD be there. Then there was a lot of 'You should call a photographer', 'You should find a DJ' type of things, where, yes, it's obvious that I need to do these things. I don't have a temper, but boy, I was ready to snap. I just don't like being pushed into a corner, and that's a little of how I felt, like the wedding was spinning out of control. I mean, it was good that they wanted to participate and help out. I appreciate it. But I'd be lying if I didn't say that it stresses me out a lot.
But I'm better now. And I'm working on wedding stuff. It'll be a little tough, since I'll be in LA for the whole week for work. But I want to get a lot of stuff done. We'll see how it goes.
